Michael Rühle, born in 1959, worked for over 30 years on NATO's International Staff. As head of the Political Planning Section, he wrote speeches for six Secretaries General. As head of the Energy, Climate Security, and Hybrid Threats Section, he played a major role in developing NATO's response to new threats. He frequently publishes on security policy issues, including in Frankfurter Allgemeine, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, and Die Welt, as well as in specialist journals in Germany and abroad.
